Days. Hours. Minutes.
I don’t know how long I’ve been here.Time becomes meaningless when you’re lost.
I thought I was alone, but I was wrong.
She’s here with me.
My companion or my captor?Everything I thought I knew is a lie. Memories turn to delusions. Promises become poison laced with dishonesty.
And still we sing. Our song. Our past.
Our dark, dangerous present.
And in this room of blood and agony, we have found our home . . .
I was provided a review copy; this did not influence my opinion of the book.
I’m not really sure what to say here or how to write this review, and that is because I am not sure that I understand anything I just read. My mind is still spinning. While I highly appreciate this authors writing style, her switching from past to present so frequently left me completely perplexed. I do think that was the plan but it didn’t work for me. Because this was the second selection in the series, I needed to gain some information in my reading. I LOVE mysteries/thrillers and appreciate the thrill of the “guess” but this selection was too vague for me. Some information is gained, but too late for me to be satisfied, and still no holes are patched in the story, but rather more have been made.
I very much look forward to the next book to find out what has been going on and to finally get the answers to all of my questions.
“Maybe it’s finally time to run, Nora. Before the monsters catch up with you.”
“Who are the monsters? Who should I be running from?”
“Sometimes the monsters are the ones with the pretty faces.”
Don’t forget the warning I wrote for my review of The Missing Volume I-Illusions: WARNING: for all my romance loving friends; this is NOT a romance. Please remember that when you pick up this book to read. It is a three part psychological thriller series!
