The (Not So) Secret Life of Book Blogger ‪#‎BookTag‬

I was tagged by AMY at Foxy Blogs to play The (Not So) Secret Life of Book Blogger ‪#‎BookTag. This is pretty self-explanatory and allows you to get to know me a little better.

1. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A BLOGGER?

Overall, I have been blogging about 2 years. I started on Booklikes, then moved to WordPress in early 2014. I have been on WordPress for almost a year and a half.

2. AT WHAT POINT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL STOP BLOGGING?

I think I will stop blogging when it no longer becomes fun. I started blogging as a means of “journaling” my thoughts, so I guess when I feel that blogging is no longer serving that purpose, I will “shut it down.”

3. WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?

Hands down, the best thing about blogging is all of the people I have “met”. Blogging has allowed me to get to know people from all over the world that I would never have had the chance to meet. While there are 100’s of bloggers now, this really is a small community. I have also had the pleasure of interacting with some amazing authors. This has been a benefit I never imagined would happen when I began blogging.

4. WHAT IS THE WORST THING? WHAT DO YOU DO TO MAKE IT OKAY?

The STRESS. I feel STRESSED to make my blog look pretty. I feel STRESSED to make frequent social media posts. I feel STRESSED to have awesome giveaways. I feel STRESSED to get posts made and/or ARC’s read and reviewed, especially when I receive them at the last minute. To make it okay? I am always working on that. I have to remind myself that this is MY blog and that I don’t get paid.  Sometimes I step back and take a few days off, a “blogcation” if you will. It clears my head and helps me put things in perspective. Reminds me not to take myself and this so seriously.

5. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO CREATE/FIND PICTURES TO USE?

As my family will tell you, a ridiculous amount of time! I don’t make graphics for every review. But when I do, I could spend several hours on one graphic. In other words, I am s.l.o.w. but I love making graphics, banners and such, even though mine are not nearly as good as my blogger friends who have mad Photoshop skills, I enjoy the creative process.

6. WHO IS YOUR BOOK CRUSH?

I have so many Book Boyfriends that it is difficult to narrow this down. My current crush is Jake from Sustained by Emma Chase. So freaking swoon-worthy!

7. WHAT AUTHOR WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE ON YOUR BLOG?

I cannot narrow that down either! These questions are just cruel! I have several; Penny Reid, Mia Sheridan, C.J. Markusfeld, Emma Chase… there are more, but that is the short list.

8. WHAT DO YOU WEAR WHEN YOU WRITE YOUR BLOG POSTS?

Usually pajamas. Because I usually make my posts early in the morning, or late at night!

9. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE BOOK BLOGGER COMMUNITY?

As I mentioned I have found a whole new group of friends that I would never have, without blogging.

10. WHAT DO YOU THINK ONE SHOULD DO TO GET A SUCCESSFUL BLOG?

I guess that all depends on what you consider successful? Is it a lot of followers? Or is it being happy with what you produce? I think I fall into the last category. Because if your bar for success is followers then at what point will you be able to measure your success? It seems you will always be on the hunt for more. Whereas, to be happy with what I produce means, I am always striving to improve and produce the best product possible. I think when I do that, I feel successful. (Of course, having someone read what I produce doesn’t hurt 😉 )
