In this era of social media, we all pretend.
We pretend to be prettier, happier, more confident versions of ourselves, but not Ellen Grant. She takes it to a whole other level and pretends to be someone else entirely. Adopting the persona of a woman far more interesting is the only way she can break free of the socially awkward, romantically inept girl she really is.
And it’s all going swimmingly until she catches the eye of a man at her local coffee shop. Julian Fairchild has been noticing her for a while and he’s fascinated. Little does he know, the woman he thinks he’s obsessed with is a fake.
It’s not long before the jig is up, and Julian discovers Ellen’s true identity. However, he has a proposition. If she really wants to pretend, he can introduce her to a world where she can be anyone she wants. Ellen is intrigued by the prospect, and, blind to the nature of Julian’s profession as a male escort, closes her eyes and lets him lead the way.
Can Ellen keep her feelings in check while discovering a new world of thrills and excitement? And will Julian let it show that he isn’t entertaining Ellen purely out of the goodness of his heart?
Fauxmance is a standalone contemporary romance featuring characters first seen in L.H. Cosway’s Showmance.
I was provided a review copy; this did not influence my opinion of the book.
❝I was in a hotel room with a male escort, receiving oral sex for the first time in my life.❞
Reclusive writer meets extroverted male escort.
Refreshing, funny, quirky, and sexy, are all words that can be used to describe L.H. Cosway’s characters. I always enjoy reading who Cosway thinks up next. Her characters are the yin to each other’s yang and often times their quirk/kink is what is missing in the other person’s life. Where one may have too much of one trait, their love interest tends to be greatly lacking in that area, thereby balancing each other and making them the perfect match.
❝I invite you to meet Ellen Grant: hermit, tomboy, make-believe artist.❞
ELLEN GRANT was a fabulous storyteller. Her books were bestsellers and her acquaintances had no idea who she really was. Elodie had become her persona; through her, Ellen lived a life she never could without her disguise. She was a socially awkward and sexually inept recluse. But being Elodie made her feel confident and fearless.
❝I’m a male escort.❞ ❝…what I provide is more a holistic experience than just offering sex.❞
JULIAN FAIRCHILD was a male escort, who enjoyed getting to know his clients, taking them out and doing things they wanted to do. But lately, he’d grown weary of it all. Relationships had never been his thing, but ever since his obsession started with the woman from the coffee shop, he no longer resisted the possibility and even began wondering what it would be like to be loved completely and unconditionally.
❝She always sat at the same table, and her stories were everything.❞
A regular on Tuesday mornings at the Polka Dot Café, Julian always arrived before the intriguing Elodie and sat close enough to hear her describe her weekly exploits to her friend, Suze. He appreciated her apparent sexual freedom and in many ways, she reminded him of himself.
❝She was everything I never sought in a partner, and yet, getting to know her, peeling away her unexpected layers, was my new obsession. She pulled me in with the ruse of Elodie, who embodied the sort of woman I normally chase. Then the curtain fell to reveal something far more enthralling beneath.❞
When Julian meets Ellen, he wants to help her explore the world while helping her to become more of herself. But will Julian’s fear of intimacy and Ellen’s fear of reality keep them apart?
L. H. Cosway is a one-click author for me. I never read the blurb before going in because I know I will love the story she’s written and Fauxmance was no exception. FAUXMANCE is a heart-warming, second-chance romance!
