6 Stars for Breaking Nova (Nova #1) by Jessica Sorensen

6 Stars for Breaking Nova (Nova #1) by Jessica Sorensen

Jessica Sorensen has given me a look inside 5 broken lives, and two tormented souls with Breaking Nova. She made me feel their pain, made me cry their tears, made me see their lost hopes and dreams. An excellent depiction of what loss can do to the human spirit, we are shown not just the daily struggles to get by, but the hours, minutes, and seconds of the day that are so hard to maneuver. Ms. Sorensen navigates us through the difficult path of the stages of grief…some of them…not everyone makes it through all of them. In real life […]

5 Stars for Beautiful Broken Rules (Broken #1) by Kimberly Lauren

5 Stars for Beautiful Broken Rules (Broken #1) by Kimberly Lauren

Review The perfect book at the right time! I loved this book. This book touched my heart from the beginning: “Be silly, be honest, and be kind,” he quoted in a raspy voice. Sigh! I melted. Emerson is trying to deal (or not) with a tragedy and has realized that the best way to do so is to not feel. Because feeling isn’t worth it. “Everyone always thinks we should talk about our feelings as if that would make it better.” So she has shut herself off from her real self. She builds up a wall to protect herself from […]

4 Stars forNocturne by Andrea Randall, Charles Sheehan-Miles

4 Stars forNocturne by Andrea Randall, Charles Sheehan-Miles

Well I don’t know where to start…this book challenged my morals, and beliefs, and made me angry. Angry because I began rooting for Gregory and Savannah, and angry for their circumstances. I wanted their all-consuming, once-in-a-life time love to make it, but at what cost, and to whom? The reality is, this book didn’t sugar coat the situation. It dragged us through the sludge. Randall and Sheehan-Miles didn’t make the reader feel good about what was going on. They didn’t make it pretty. They made it real. Sometimes, real isn’t pretty. The change in POV was seamlessly executed. It was […]

6 Stars for Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy #2) by Karina Halle

I am absolutely on pins and needles awaiting the next book! I was captivated with the first “three”, and am anxiously awaiting the next. This series has been added to my favorites list. The top 3! The writing is spellbinding. As I was reading I was sucked into each character’s world. The movie playing in my head kept me on an emotional roller coaster that I didn’t want to end. When it did, I fell off with a thud, mouth open wide, kindle at risk of being thrown. So, now I wait…for the final book in the series… […]

5 Stars for Wethering the Storm (The Storm #2) by Samantha Towle

I am so glad this was not just a POV change and re-tell of the first story. This was a continuation and I loved it. I only had one criticism and that is toward the last 1/3 of the book I felt like the book began to read slow and I caught myself skimming through some parts. But overall I LOVED it. I absolutely LOVE JAKE in this book. He is funny, HOT, romantic, loving, and protective. Every woman needs a Jake in their lives – even if it is just for an afternoon 😉

Jade, is a living statue performer and part-time bartender at a concert hall. She is also the guardian of two younger siblings. She is not only a recovering alcoholic but also recovering from bad relationships. She has sworn off both. She is lively and full of color. Shane, a violin virtuoso, is trying to recover from a bad relationship as well, one that took a huge toll on his emotional well-being. He is shy and socially awkward. The two first cross paths in the town square while Jade is “performing”. A one-night-stand ensues. Or so Jade thought. She soon becomes […]
