5 Stars for Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

5 Stars for Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

The writing was phenomenal, fast-paced, almost lyrical. Which was such a drastic contrast to the plot – not at all poetic. But disturbing. We are taken on a journey of a dysfunctional relationship between Nick and Amy that has more twists and turns, ups and downs than a roller coaster. We go from loving to hating and loving the characters. As soon as you think you have “it” figured out, you learn you are wrong. This was so well-written I forgot I was reading fiction. I lived in Missouri, and a few times while reading, found myself thinking a road […]

Willing Captive by Belle Aurora

Willing Captive by Belle Aurora

Oh Happy Days! I am still smiling! I finished this at 12:30am this morning. When I awakened from sleep, I realized I had dreamed about this book! I do that sometimes, my mind continues with the story, or adds to it, but only for those that I truly love, enjoy, and/or are inspired by. This story had it all, it was funny, romantic, heart-warming, and suspenseful. It made me cry, laugh, swoon, and drool, oh – It had an AWESOME super-HERO – NOX! “A man like Nox is wild. You can’t tame him. You don’t even try,” What more could […]

4 1/2 Stars for Convicted (Consequences #3) by Aleatha Romig

4 1/2 Stars for Convicted (Consequences #3) by Aleatha Romig

4 1/2 stars. Well, that was a whirlwind of emotions, action, and another mind F*%£ ! Aleatha Romig twisted and turned and flipped and skipped us through this book. Keeping you on your toes, guessing what the heck was going on is her specialialty. The writing again, was so fluid and captivating that putting the book down to sleep or work was a difficult task.   I LOVED Tony. His transformation was amazing! His self-acceptance, and evolution was so powerful that I read his words over and over again. Claire’s strength and perseverance was astounding. And the supporting cast […]

4 Stars for The Ballad (The Bridge #1) by Ashley Pullo

I really liked this book. I happened upon this book by accident, and I am glad I did. The author is a fantastic story teller. The only negative was the arrangement for me. I actually read the story in reverse and liked it better. I believe Ashley Pullo will be an author to look out for in the future!

5 Stars for Girl of Lies (Rachel’s Peril #1) by Charles Sheehan-Miles

5 Stars for Girl of Lies (Rachel’s Peril #1) by Charles Sheehan-Miles

Girl of Lies, is NOT a story about Rachel Thompson. At one time, the first book in this series was titled Rachel’s Peril. With the new title of this book, I assumed it would still be about Rachel. But in fact, it is much, much, more. For instance, it details the back story of the lives of the parents, Adelina and Richard Thompson. We learn their history, who they are, why they are, and what happened to make Adelina the horrible mother that she is. We learn about Richard Thompson, the seemingly closed off father of the six girls. There […]

4 Stars for A Song for Julia (Thompson Sisters #1) by Charles Sheehan-Miles

4 Stars for A Song for Julia (Thompson Sisters #1) by Charles Sheehan-Miles

I loved Julia’s spirit and Crank’s passion!  I read this book before I started reviewing and blogging, but here is the blurb: “Everyone should have something to rebel against. Crank Wilson left his South Boston home at sixteen to start a punk band and burn out his rage at the world. Six years later, he’s still at odds with his father, a Boston cop, and doesn’t ever speak to his mother. The only relationship that really matters is with his younger brother, but watching out for Sean can be a full-time job. The one thing Crank wants in life is […]

6 Stars for The Last Hour (Thompson Sisters #3) by Charles Sheehan-Miles

6 Stars for The Last Hour (Thompson Sisters #3) by Charles Sheehan-Miles

I read this book before I began writing reviews abad blogging, but it is truly one of my favorites! Here is the blurb: :Twenty-seven year old Carrie Thompson-Sherman has the life she always wanted: her PhD, a prestigious fellowship, and an amazing husband. Her life begins to unravel as a jealous colleague puts her fellowship in jeopardy and a haunting secret Ray Sherman carried home from Afghanistan comes to light. Hounded by a federal investigation and the ensuing media feeding frenzy, Carrie and Ray desperately lean on each other, until a disastrous accident puts both Ray and her sister’s lives […]
