Genres: Contemporary, Romance

Seven years ago, my life changed forever. One accident and the person I saw in the mirror no longer resembled the woman I used to be. I was lost and confused inside my own body. I felt alone and disconnected from the world, carrying the incredible weight of guilt and loss that wasn't even mine to harbor.
Then fate led me to Leo James. He taught me that crazy could be perfectly normal and it shouldn't hurt to breathe. Don't get me wrong. Leo isn't perfect. He has his own cross to bear, and the truth is, that might be why I fell for him in the first place. But despite everything he does for me, learning to forgive myself is infinitely harder than overlooking the flaws of another.
Now, the secrets and lies of our past have begun to dictate our future—threatening to ruin us before we get the chance to try. Perhaps we were cursed from the start. Or maybe, just maybe, the remnants of our fractured lives will fit together to form one whole, where love isn’t questioned and being happy is…well, easy.
Can a second broken soul be enough to fill the voids of my own? Or will such scarred pasts prove too much for our love alone to overcome?
**Each book in this series can be read as a stand alone.**
4.5 Redeeming Stars
When I started this book, I thought I would be getting more of Crazy Sarah Erikson. I kept waiting for it. But the author did something wonderful; while I was turning page after page looking for the crazy, I “fell in love” with Sarah. Slowly and meticulously, this author had me feeling sorry for, loving and rooting for Sarah. I couldn’t help but love her. She had been through such devastating pain and guilt that to see her find happiness was beautiful.
Sarah finds that happiness with Leo James. This “man” made me forget my name! Aly Martinez certainly can write the male POV. She does it so believably. Leo is suffering from his own depressing guilt and PTSD. He knows what crazy is like. He knows what it feels like to be so overwhelmed with guilt that you can’t move past it.
“I like her despite her past, and in some sick way, I’m hoping that, if I can overlook the things she did, maybe she will be able to do the same with me.”
“Sarah, we’re both crazy. That’s the best f*cking part about this relationship. Together, we’re just normal.”
This book had it all; funny, sad, and sexy moments. And the twist! WOW, I did not see that coming. And the words of wisdom sprinkled throughout the book were “light-bulb” moments that made you stop and take notice.
“happiness isn’t centered on another person. It’s molded and shaped around moments and experiences that leave you breathless.”
Watching Sarah transform and come into her own, was special. You could feel the weight of her guilt lift off her shoulders.
“No matter how f*cked it may be, in this moment, I’m thankful for the broken course that led me here.”
And the epilogue! It was – perfect! The last paragraph brought tears to my eyes because it was the perfect ending to the series.
*Side Note:
While the series is listed below, in a Post by Aly Martinez, she explains why she is adding Among the Echoes into the Wrecked and Ruined Series as book 2.5. Somehow, I missed the release of Among the Echoes and didn’t read it before this book. I did not feel I was missing anything. I certainly agree with the author ->★You do NOT have to read Among the Echoes in order to understand and enjoy Broken Course. Leo’s past is explained in Broken Course. ★ If you would like to fully experience Leo’s past ahead of time, it is suggested that you read Among The Echoes between Stolen Course (Book 2) and Broken Course (Book 3).
