I was so excited to get to read Ripped by Katy Evans. I loved Remy’s story and found Pandora to be a spitfire and hilarious character in the previous books. To get to read her story was beyond exciting. In this second chance romance, we learn what gave her her hard edge and closed off personality. We also get to meet – and fall in love with – Makenna Jones.
Pandora was faced with a death and betrayal as a teen. Her mother was closed off and selfish. It seemed Pandora lived her life to find her mother’s acceptance and approval.
Makenna Jones, who was once the popular kid in school, was faced with his own tragedy as a teen and forced to live with his uncle. Fortunately for him, he found a band, Crack Bikini. Okay, so some people are a bit disgruntled by the name, I find it funny. These were 17-year-old boys who formed a band. This name makes sense to me. The best part was that after 6 years, the band was being recognized for revolutionizing music.
Makenna’s character was fabulous! I loved reading about him as well as his POV.
“I may not have been good enough when we were seventeen,” he whispers, holding my eyes with a pair of wolfish ones that shine with an arresting intensity, “but trust me, I’m good enough now, Pink. I’m more than good enough.”
Pandora and Makenna first met in high school. After six years of not seeing the boy she fell in love with, Makenna Jones comes back to Seattle with his band to perform. Freaking out, Pandora sets out for revenge. Along with Melanie, she goes to his concert armed with eggs and tomatoes. But things didn’t go as planned….she is grabbed by security and is forced to come face to face with her punishment and the boy she hasn’t seen in six years. Her punishment is that she must tour with the band.
“I’m still trying to grasp the fact that I just signed my life away. Or more exactly, three weeks, a kiss, and a movie premier appearance away.”
Makenna, still in love with Pandora, is out to win her heart. Pandora, angry as hell at Makenna, has one thing to prove, she doesn’t need him. What follows is an emotional struggle between two people as they learn to love, accept and forgive one another and their past.
“Because I’m a man, Pink, not a foolish little boy. Because I weathered sh*t, and I still grew and made something of myself. Because I’m here now, with you, and I won’t be driven away. You cast me aside before, but I won’t let you do that again. That’s why I’m good enough now.”
