Life used to be simple.

I was a city girl with humble dreams. Then Dylan O’Dea broke into my flat, held me against the wall and told me to stay quiet.
It was like in the movies, where the universe zeros in on a single scene. I looked into his eyes and knew he was going to change me.

For Dylan, the sky was always falling. He showed me how our world is a contradiction of beauty and ugliness. How we choose to ignore the awful and gloss over it with the palatable. How you need just a tiny drop of something unsavoury to create every great scent.

Pretty deep for a pair of teenagers living in a block of council flats in inner city Dublin, right? Probably. But we weren’t typical. We both had our obsessions. Mine was growing things, Dylan’s was scent. He taught me how to use my nose, and I introduced him to the magic of flowers.

I had no idea that one day he’d build an empire from what we started together. But before that, there was love and happiness, tragedy and epic heartbreak…

My name is Evelyn Flynn and I’m going to tell you about the crack in everything.

A Crack in Everything is Book #1 in L.H. Cosway’s Cracks duet.

I was provided a review copy; this did not influence my opinion of the book.

❝Dylan?❞ I whispered. ❝Yes?❞ he replied, turning to face me. ❝Tell me about your dreams.❞

Heartwrenching and addicting, the first book in the Cracks Duet, ‘A Crack in Everything’, packed an emotional punch!

A group of quirky teens living in a poor neighborhood in inner-city Dublin called St. Mary’s Villas, develops a close friendship as they navigate their way through the rough streets of their neighborhood, come to terms with the realization of the importance of family, and face an unthinkable tragedy.

Evelyn Flynn had lived with her aunt Yvonne since she was thirteen years old when her mom left to pursue her own dreams. Having received permission from the local council to start an allotment, Ev added beauty to her world by gardening on the rooftop of her building. It was Ev’s grandmother who first introduced her to gardening. Suffering from M.S., her gran lived in a retirement home and Evelyn took it upon herself to make sure her gran was cared for.

Sam was Ev’s best friend. He lived his life with passion. He had a positive impact on everyone he came across.

Connor was the smart, nerdy boy. He was skinny, had thick glasses and a huge afro. Not the look most girls found appealing. Although, he only wanted one woman, Yvonne – Ev’s aunt.

Amy was an artist at heart. She carried her camcorder everywhere she went, filming her surroundings. Her angry, sassy, goth vibe fit her artist persona well. It also served to keep others at bay.

Dylan lived at St. Mary’s Villas with his father. Dylan was smart, ambitious and a dreamer. He longed for a better life than the one the local gang kept offering him. Where Ev’s gift was gardening, Dylan’s was a heightened sense of smell. He could dissect the ingredients in anything simply by its scent.

❝You’re sunshine, Eveylyn, and there’s nothing but clouds around here.❞

Dylan and Ev became inseparable. Dylan taught her how to smell and she taught him to smell the flowers. Their young love was challenged by the tragic curveball life through their way.

L. H. Cosway is that author. The one who, no matter what she writes, I will read it. I don’t bother with the blurb, it’s not necessary. It doesn’t matter what the book is about, I’m going to read it. ‘A Crack in Everything’ was beautiful and heartwrenching. The truths within its pages were poignant.

L. H. Cosway is a truly gifted storyteller. The ebb and flow of her storyline coupled with her unique voice hold me captive. She is that author that everyone should read and I believe doesn’t get the notice she deserves!

He came back to me 16 minutes and 59 seconds into Beethoven’s Symphony no. 7.

We parted amid tragedy, so it seemed poetic. Dylan O’Dea, my childhood sweetheart, had once meant everything to me. Now we were strangers, and honestly, after eleven years I never thought I’d see him again.

I lived in the world of the average, of getting paid by the hour and budgeting to make ends meet. But Dylan, he lived in the world of wealth and success. He’d achieved the great things I always suspected he would. The dissatisfaction he’d felt as a teenager had obviously been an excellent motivator.

He started a business from scratch, pioneered a brand, and created perfumes adored by women across the globe. I was just one of the people who’d been there before. Now he was living his best life in the after.

And me, well, I’d been in a dark place for a while. Slowly but surely, I was letting the light back in, but there was something missing. I was an unfinished sentence with an ellipsis at the end. And maybe, if I was brave enough to take the chance, Dylan could be my happy ending.

How the Light Gets In is Book #2 and the concluding instalment in L.H. Cosway’s Cracks duet.

This series was everything. EVERYTHING! I absolutely adored it! ‘The Cracks Duet’ was a swoon-worthy romance that made my heart explode!

I am speechless! I thought the first book in this series, ‘A Crack in Everything’, was phenomenal, but ‘How the Light Gets In’ was extraordinary! Really, L.H. Cosway, I bow to you!

The second book takes place eleven years after the first ends. WHAT, You ask? No fear, my friends, this time jump is perfect!

Now adults, our amazing cast of characters have transitioned into adulthood and are forging their own paths, with all the trials and triumphs that entails. And, that’s all I’m going to say about the plot! This is a series best going in blind.

As a reader, I love angst, the angstier the better, bring on the feels! I also love a good slow-burn romance filled with sexual tension. I fall head over heels for a hero with alpha tendencies, who is slightly tormented and/or “odd”, I turn all co-dependent and want to take care of and take away the pain from said hero. All that together makes for a swoon-worthy romance sure to make my heart explode, and ‘The Cracks Duet’ fit that bill! A MUST READ!
