Ignazio Vitale is not a good man.
I suspect it, the first time I see him, sense the air of danger that surrounds the man. He has a way of commanding attention, of taking control, of knowing what I'm thinking before I even do.
It's alarming and alluring. It's dark and deadly. It's everything I've ever wanted but the last thing I truly need. Obsession.
It doesn't take him long to draw me into his web, charming me into his bed and trapping me in his life, a life I know nothing about until it's too late. He has secrets, secrets I can't fathom, secrets that make it so I can't walk away, no matter how much I beg him to let me go. I see it sometimes in his eyes, a darkness that's both terrifying and thrilling. He's a monster, wrapped up in a pretty package, and what I find when I unmask him changes everything.
I want to hate him.
Sometimes, I do.
But it doesn't stop me from loving him, too.
❝My Prince Charming turned out to be the villain of my fairy tale,❞
WHY, WHY, WHY did I wait so long to read ‘Monster in His Eyes’? I am so pissed at myself! Seriously, I should have known I would love it. J.M. Darhower’s words intrigue me every single time! Her voice enthralls me! Her style captivates me!
‘Monster in His Eyes’, was not at all what I expected. I don’t even know what I expected. I was on the edge of my seat the entire book. I was anxious and couldn’t read fast enough. Fortunately, I also had the audio (through whisper sync) so while I cooked dinner I listened. I continued listening and followed along with the book as I sat down for the night. This was the perfect way for me to experience MiHE.
Book Review
I loved this story, the mystery, the intrigue, the “romance”, I loved it all. The characters were beautifully written. The plot had a perfect mix of steam and suspense. And because I knew nothing about this book before I started, I am not sharing anything in this review about the story, because I do not want to ruin it for anyone. Just read it! If you haven’t, yet. Don’t be like me and waste more time. 5++ Stars!
❝You may grow, and hiss, and meow, and maybe sometimes you bring out those claws, but I know how to make you purr. I’m the king of the jungle. I’m the predator.❞
❝Does that make me your prey? ❞
❝That makes you my queen.❞
Audio Review
This is a little more difficult for me to review because there were parts I truly enjoyed and then others, not so much. As I mentioned, listening to the audio while following along with the book was a new experience for me, and it enhanced the reading experience. So for that, I would give the audio 5 stars. But I did have some problems with it. Firstly, I had to speed it up, because the narration was so slow, it dragged. I listened to it at 1.25 speed. Secondly, one of the issues I tend to have with audiobooks is when the narrator “changes their voice” for each character in such a way that it detracts from the story. Unfortunately, when the female narrator spoke the male voices, it drove me nuts. It just didn’t work for me. So overall, I would give the audio 4 stars.
Again, if you haven’t read ‘Monster in His Eyes’ read it! Now is a perfect time, too. Because it is just $.99! (At the time of this posting.) Also, Torture to Her Soul (Monster in His Eyes, #2) is on sale for $.99!
OMG THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY! haha I am so glad you loved it!!!!
Stephanie I feel so stupid! I have loved every book from her! EVERY ONE! I do not know what kept me away!!!
NOW you can get excited for the 3rd book coming out this Tuesday!!! EEEEKKKKK <3
I am reading #2 now, in preparation!!! <3 <3 <3
I am so excited for you. It’s in his POV so you get to be in his head, and let me tell you it is a marvelous place to be!!! LOL
I am LOVING it so far!!!
I’ve only listed to a couple audiobooks, but I have the same problem. Women narrators trying to voice the male characters–it comes across as rather cartoonish.
Angela, yes, sometime it does! 🙁 However I have listened to some really good ones. Right now I am listening to (and following along with)Sebring by Kristen Ashley. The narrator does a great job!
